Such is Modern Christianity today. Only driving my point even further when I say that my stance was never about hair but about how we as the body of Christ react to an offence or fault. We don’t pick up physical stones but our words do all the damage & nobody comes back to pick up the ones we have hurt. We simply move along and find the next victim. We forget scriptures like Matthew 12:36-37 “I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak,
For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned”. Our mouths are an intrument of blessing and Cursing as we read in Proverbs 18:21 “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits”. Unfortunately we believe that what we say only in Prayer is what has effect yet forgetting that even in daily life, be it in school,Church, Home,Saloons and Even Social Media. YES SOCIAL MEDIA. Hiding behind a screen won’t fool God! Trust me when I say that even I want to lash out and snap sometimes, but it’s those moments that i remember scriptures like Ephesians 4:29 saying “Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear”. Why am I heavy on Words we speak you may ask? Firstly cause my career and Ministry is driven by Words. The words I write, the Words I sing, the Words I speak have helped many get through dark moments and come to Jesus. But I’m also haunted by damaging words which broke others or where lashed out with the excuse of anger or disappointment in others. These are the words of death every Christian must be aware of. We have hurt so many in this manner and one such person I would like to highlight for us is JoJo Mwangaza (my apologies to him if he would feel uncomfortable by this but hope he’s sees the importance of what I am trying to say). A wonderful man of God who’s music Brought thousands to Jesus. He filled up Conference Centers as we where blessed by his Ministry, yet when a devil inspired rumour was made that JoJo was apparently a Satanist where we’re we? All the ones who sang his songs and praised him now used the same tongues to curse him. Passing on the Gossip as if it where the great commission. Even when the truth came out that this was a lie of the enemy, the damage was already done. How many went back and Apologised or repented to God for this? If not very few then non. Why? Simply cause JoJo is a public figure and apparently being a public figure means you’re public property and we as the public can say or write as we wish and get away with it. Don’t be fooled Facebook Christians. I’m glad to have met Brother JoJo recently and He is strong in the Lord still and singing for Jesus, Proverbs 12:19 Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
You would think these attacks are only to believers who are long standing in the faith yet we still attack the young believers who come into the faith. I remember my brother Pompi coming into The Faith, and reading countless articles and Facebook posts from people saying he was a Satanist or rather doing it for the money. You would think this was immature believers but no. Church leaders making phone calls and meetings to ask to deliver him from the illuminati spirit and all other manner of foolishness they could come up with. Does this happen to every new convert to the faith? I don’t think so. Yet now I see the faces of many who made these accusations attend his concerts today and sing along to his music yet have any apologised or taken back those words? Like I said “we don’t come back to fix the broken pieces”. I thank God for Pastors and Bishops who have to spend endless hour’s counselling the ones we have hurt. Even they come under attack many times to our immature rants either over a sermon we didn’t agree with or direction of their ministry. I salute those who still stand strong on God’s calling for their life no matter the weather. I know for myself that I am not immune to fault for attack but I’m secure in knowing that my foundation of my identity is grounded in the knowledge of God’s Love for me. I also have brothers and sisters who will act in accordance with God’s Word when coming to my aid. I was hurt deeply when we as Christians rode on the Gossip train of attack that apparently Pompi was expecting a baby with a well known female secular artist & marry in September. Information created by a tabloid was shared quicker than the gospel and passed on as truth.
Some even went as far as calling his family members and parents. Why? Simply cause he was graceful enough to take an innocent picture with her at a public Samsung launch. Unfortunately this was all the fuel we needed for the next Gossip train and as Christians sucked it up and rode it till the end without giving a care what it cost. Now many months later we see this to be a lie again but still we won’t apologise. Perhaps too busy looking for the next ride..
I know my brother has never spoken outwardly about it or the pain it caused but I am my brothers keeper and will glady be the loud rebel if I must.
We receive so much mail from young people who want to pursue this music career and Ministry . My great concern is how many will be able to handle this nature of a crowd? How many more have we lost in such a manner? So I aim to set this right and if you have an ear I hope you have listened. The truth is there will be many among us who will have their days and will fall or will be accused of falling but let us not rush hastly with our mouths and become the devils voice in the crowd shouting Crucify Him. Rather practice 1st Corinthians 13:4-5 “Love suffers long and is Kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;. And sadly we as a church are culprits at evil thoughts of others. My time will be up soon and others will come after me. But my job is to leave a better platform for them so they don’t have to fight the battles we have fought.
So feel free to comment as you please. I rest my words. But remember these two scriptures.
Matthew 7:12 “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
James 1:22-27
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing. If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless. …Story By Abel Chungu Musuka.
