Business guru and media personality takes the helm to revamp TV station

LUSAKA, ZAMBIA – CBC Television has announced the appointment of leading media personality and businesswoman Rose Sibisi as its new Chief Executive Officer.

The dynamic broadcast and communications specialist brings 26 years of corporate experience to the station, which is currently undergoing a business and formatting revamp following the elevation of former CEO Mandesi Kaumba to the Board of CBC TV.

“Zambia’s media landscape has been evolving in recent times, which is a good thing. However, the industry still has more opportunity to adjust to the dynamics of the market and embrace a new model that provides quality content targeted at identifiable market segments. Only then will the industry become sustainable,” said Ms Sibisi, who has acquired shareholding as a managing partner into the station and has pledged to transform the station into a regional player.

“CBC Television will provide a platform of ownership by empowering local content producers to showcase the real-life Zambian and African story in their own way on their own platform. This premium produced content is aimed at transforming communities through lifestyle, entertainment and current affairs programming, with a strictly non-political remit,” she added.

The station will also work closely with corporates to provide a well-targeted advertising platform with measurable demographics backed by robust audience research, explained Ms Sibisi.

Ms Sibisi joins after 25 years of experience in the corporate world in Zambia and South Africa with brands including DHL Zambia: Multichoice Zambia, Telecel Zambia (Now MTN), Herbalife, Sony, Samsung and BMW.

This is a strategic growth move for her StylewithRoseS brand – which includes a popular talk show and has grown into a millennial advocacy initiative that supports women entrepreneurial growth and provides solutions to youth unemployment using visual and audio media as the facilitation tool. She is passionate about global leadership development for African women and youth.

She is President of the International Association of Business and Professional Women Zambia and serves on the executive board of the International Women’s Club Lusaka. She is currently a mentor on the African Women Entrepreneur Programme facilitated by WEAC and is an alumni entrepreneur in the continental Graça Machel Women Creating Wealth Programme, as well as a women entrepreneur Trainer for Stanbic Bank’s Anakazi Banking initiative. She recently completed the Bloomberg Media Initiative Africa Financial Journalism affiliation in 2020.

An 2018 alumni of the Cherie Blair Mentorship Programme, she is one of only two Zambian women entrepreneurs nominated for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2017 by the US Embassy in Zambia, and she is one of 77 successful Zambian entrepreneurs in the 2019 cohort of the Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneur programme.
CBC Television was established in 2008.
