Ice Queen returns with her latest track, “Keep Going (Kalé),” a soulful yet upbeat Afro-infused hip-hop anthem featuring the Zambezi Griot, James Sakala.
The song is a heartfelt reflection of Cleo’s journey in the music industry, capturing her resilience and determination to push forward despite the challenges she’s faced.
James Sakala’s powerful chants on the chorus, which translate to “don’t be deceived by how I mingle with the kids, we may drink from the same cup, but I’ve long since (Kalé) been grown (Nakula),” reinforce the theme of perseverance, with Cleo declaring, “imma keep going.”
The track boasts an impressive lineup of talent behind the scenes. Produced by Mag44, Solomon Plate, and Ezekiel, the song’s rich sound is further elevated by the mixing and mastering expertise of Kekero and Thaps.SA. Additional layers of depth come from Sammy Master on guitars and Sam Nyambe on keys, creating a vibrant and dynamic musical backdrop.
The creative team also includes Faith Beat Studios and Malanga for hair, Faith Beat for makeup, and Mukoko Media for photography, ensuring the visual elements match the song’s energy.
The music video, directed by Major Jnr and Cleo Ice Queen, is a visual masterpiece brought to life with the help of assistants Camilla and Kabungo Keisha.
The artistic direction features stunning contributions from Van Mumba and Saviour’s Casa, while wardrobe pieces from LAWRENZO Wurld and Don Estelle Mantel Designs add a touch of elegance. Props and taxidermy by Benson and Nunji Taxidermy, led by chief taxidermist Mr. Samson Phiri, create a unique aesthetic. Rounding out the production is catering by Habeez Health Food Cafe, ensuring the team stayed fueled throughout the creative process.
“Keep Going (Kalé)” is not just a song but a celebration of artistry, resilience, and collaboration.
