In Ukraine’s southern region of Kherson, a large-scale emergency evacuation is currently taking place.
The situation has arisen due to the inundation of the area after the Nova Kakhovka dam suffered a rupture overnight, resulting in the sudden release of a massive volume of water from Ukraine’s largest reservoir.
According to Ukrainian authorities, they assert that the dam was intentionally destroyed by the Russians, who are in control of its operations.
However, the Russian side vehemently denies these allegations.
This is not the first instance of the dam being targeted, but the current damage is believed to be irreparable, posing potentially catastrophic consequences for all those residing or dependent on resources downstream.
