THE National Arts Council has refused to grant a clearance permit for South African female dancer Rebeca Libram popularly known as Zodwa Wabantu.
NAC Director Maanka Chipindi said allowing Zondwa’s shows to continue in Zambia is contrary to public interest and will undermine the national values.
This was after Sunset Sound production of Libala area in Lusaka who are the hosts of the event where Zodwa was scheduled to perform had earlier applied for a permit for the international dancer.
But after denying the application, NAC advised the event hosts to appeal to the Ministry of Tourism and Arts writhing 21days if not satisfied with the decision.
“You are hereby informed that Ms Rebeca Libram (Zodwa Wabantu) is not allowed to perform in Zambia. According to NAC Act, you are free to appeal this decision to the Minister of Tourism and Arts within twenty-one days,” read the letter from NAC.
